The Ayesha K. Faines Foundation, named in honor of our beloved Girl Friend Ayesha K. Faines, was established by her parents — GF Ruby Sampson-Kamil and the Hon. Judge Bahir Kamil. The Foundation is steadfastly dedicated to closing literacy gaps and expanding educational opportunities for underserved communities, with a primary focus on uplifting women of color trapped in cycles of poverty.
The New Jersey Chapter of The Girl Friends, Incorporated has been a cornerstone partner — contributing both chapter and individual donations and pledging 100 hours of service to help build and implement the Foundation's programs. Bringing a wealth of personal and professional experience, the NJ Girl Friends collaborate closely with the founders on outreach and programming — teaching young women and children confidence, self-love, and practical skills across the arts, public speaking, etiquette, and journalism — so that Ayesha's legacy of education, empowerment, and social change continues to transform lives.
The collaboration between the New Jersey Chapter and the Ayesha K. Faines Foundation serves as a testament to the power of collective action and solidarity in creating positive change. By leveraging our collective resources and platforms, we are not only addressing immediate needs but transforming lives, inspiring future leaders, and keeping our Girl Friends legacy vibrant for generations to come.
